How Our Products Are Made
Designed as a Garment
Many Dovenfield pieces are created using an all over print cut and sew process.
Instead of starting with a finished blank garment and placing a design in one area, these products are designed across the garment itself. Artwork, patterns, colours, and details can extend across the front, back, sleeves, and other sections of the piece.
This gives us much more freedom to create clothing with a distinct visual identity.
The Cut and Sew Process
For our all over print garments, production begins with fabric rather than a finished shirt.
The process generally follows four stages:
1. The garment is designed
Artwork is created for the different areas of the garment, including the front, back, sleeves, and other printable panels where applicable.
2. The design is printed onto the fabric
The artwork is applied to the fabric before the garment is assembled.
3. The individual panels are cut
The printed fabric is cut into the pieces required to construct the garment.
4. The panels are sewn together
The individual pieces are then assembled into the finished product.
This process allows the design to become part of the entire garment rather than simply being added to one section of a standard blank.
Full Coverage Design
Cut and sew production gives Dovenfield considerably more creative freedom than a traditional chest or back print.
Depending on the product, designs can extend across:
- Front panels
- Back panels
- Sleeves
- Shoulders
- Collars
- Other printable areas of the garment
This is particularly important for Dovenfield because many of our pieces are created as complete visual compositions.
The garment itself becomes the canvas.
Print and Fabric Quality
Many of our synthetic all over print products use dye sublimation printing.
With this process, color is transferred into the polyester based fabric rather than creating a heavy printed layer on top of it. This allows detailed, full coverage designs while helping preserve the feel and flexibility of the fabric.
Different Dovenfield products use different fabrics and construction methods. Product pages provide specific information wherever possible.
Depending on the garment, this information may include:
- Fabric composition
- Fabric weight
- Stretch characteristics
- Moisture wicking properties
- Recycled material content
- UPF protection
- Care instructions
- Relevant textile certifications
- Product specific construction details

Made to Order
Dovenfield products are produced after an order is placed rather than being pulled from large quantities of finished inventory.
This allows us to offer a wider range of original designs without manufacturing large quantities of every product in advance. It can also help reduce unnecessary overproduction and unsold inventory.
Because production begins after an order is placed, fulfillment can take longer than purchasing an already manufactured item from a large retailer.
We believe customers should know that before ordering.

Natural Production Variation
Cut and sew garments are physical products assembled from individually printed fabric panels.
Small differences in seam alignment, color, texture, placement, or appearance can occur as part of normal printing and sewing processes.
These normal variations are different from a clear production error or a product that is materially different from what was advertised.
We aim to be clear about that distinction.
